Why the 6 km/h ceiling is a design decision, not a shortfall

The maximum speed noted in the drawbacks above reads like a limitation and is better understood as a category boundary. Six kilometres an hour is a brisk walk, roughly the pace you would move at to catch a train, and it is deliberately below the speed at which most people break into a jog. That is not the motor being weak: a deck this short with no handrail is not a safe place to run, and capping the speed is how these machines stay sensible under a desk. The practical test is what you want it for. If the job is replacing sitting with walking during the working day, the ceiling will never come up, because sustained typing gets difficult well before six. If you were hoping to fold away a machine that also covers a run at the weekend, this is the wrong category rather than the wrong model, and a folding treadmill with a handrail is the thing to look at.

The remote and the app are not interchangeable

The limited remote functionality in the drawbacks matters more than it sounds, because it shapes the daily routine. On machines set up this way the handset typically covers starting, stopping and speed, while the fuller controls and any tracking live in the phone app. If you are content having your phone involved every session that is unremarkable; if you wanted a device you could tap and forget, it is worth knowing before rather than after.

The startup motor noise is the other thing owners notice first and it is worth putting in proportion: it is loudest at the moment the belt begins moving and settles once it is running, which is precisely the wrong moment if you start it mid-call. Starting it between calls rather than during one removes most of the complaint, and the quiet running noted in the strengths above is what you live with the rest of the time.
